The Migration And Health Research Center (MAHRC) has been established, with the intent of conducting research to improve the health of migrant populations in California and around the globe. MAHRC is a collaboration between the University of California Berkeley and Davis campuses.
Immigrants are vulnerable to occupational injury and a broad range of illness at significantly higher rates than the native born population.
The Migration And Health Research Center (MAHRC) aims to improve the health of migrant populations by conducting and supporting multidisciplinary research and translating it into policy recommendations. The center is a collaboration between the University of California Berkeley and Davis campuses. Associations will be developed with other U.S. universities, Latin American and global research institutions, Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), and local, state and federal government entities.
MAHRC will provide research leadership to improve health and eliminated health disparities of migrants worldwide. We will specialize in migrants living in California, the U.S. and Latin America.
Our research will be aimed at understanding the causes of illness and injuries among migrants and at providing strategies to reduce these problems. The efforts will be based on innovative research, policy analysis, training and public service, and translation of these components into action.
